In this book, we strive to highlight the remarkable creations of architects from a particular era and examine how their internationally inspired buildings were tailored to the local tropical climate. Our goal is to enhance community awareness of this architectural period, while also inspiring the next generation of architects through exemplary past works. Recognizing the value of good architecture is not always instinctive, and we aspire for this book to act as a catalyst for deepening this understanding.
SALT was contacted by Docomomo Curaçao for a remarkable project: a book celebrating one of my favorite architectural periods. This endeavor became deeply personal to me. Collaborating with Michael Newton, Ronny Lobo, and Ton Verkuijlen was a privilege. Together, we produced a book that truly deserved the Docomomo emblem.
